Sawyer, local author Catherine Hiller has created the story of Tom's despised half-brother, Sid. "Adventures of Sid Sawyer" turns the classic on its head. Popular local author Charise Mericle Harper (Just Grace series, Wedgie Man series and countless wonderful picture books), introduces her two newest and possibly most lovable characters: Bean Dog and Nugget (I just love saying their names)! The two pals have been compared to Elephant and Piggie and promise a highlyentertaining series for early readers and fans of graphic novels.
We'll hear their stories, make a graphic novel and make our very own Bean Dogs and Nuggets to take home.
Teen Event: A Visit from Sara Zarr Thursday, May 16th 6:30 p.m.
We're so honored to have the opportunity to meet with highly acclaimed Young Adult author Sara Zarr. Visiting from Salt Lake City, Utah, Sara is the author of five wonderful YA novels, including her latest, The Lucy Variations.
She's a National Book Award finalist and two-time Utah Book Award winner. Her books have been variously named to annual best books lists of the American Library Association, Kirkus, Publisher's Weekly, School Library Journal, the Guardian, the International Reading Association, the New York Public Library and Los Angeles Public Library, and have been translated into many languages. In 2010, she served as a judge for the National Book Award.
In short, Sara is super smart, crazy talented and one of the most highly respected authors in Young Adult circles. Don't miss her. Bring your mom. For ages 12 and up.
