Come for a Cozy Celebration of “Hygge”

Saturday, January 19th, 3 pm

 

Join us for a celebration of “hygge,” the Scandinavian lifestyle that embraces comfort and coziness. Wear your favorite PJ's, and anjoy, in the winter afternoon light, a “candlelit” story time, hot cocoa and a nature craft while supplies last.

 

We’ll also have available an inspiring selection of books showing how to add more “hygge” to our busy lives. ways to help your family slow down and smell the pinecones!

 

All ages welcome. Craft best for 4 & up.

 

 

Art School at the Bookstore Celebrates MLK Day

Monday, January 21st, 1 pm

 

We’re celebrating Martin Luther King Day with a visit from our local art school, One River Arts. Created in 2010 by Matt Ross (founder of School of Rock) their aim is to transform art education for toddlers through adults. They'll be working on a project inspired by lauded African American artist Kara Walker, known for her brilliant and challenging work with silhouettes and collage that addresses issues of race, gender and identity throughout American history.

Make Your Own Graphic Novel with Author/Illustrator Justin LaRocca Hansen

Saturday, January 26th, 2 pm

 

We’ll provide the materials you need to get started on your first few pages. You provide the imagination, creativity and determination to write and design a great graphic novel!

Justin LaRocca Hansen, of the popular graphic novel series, Secondhand Heroes, will be sharing tips and tricks with aspiring young artists as well as signing books.

Make a Monster Valentine, Decorate a Monster Cupcake, and Meet Author

Leslie Kimmelman! 

Sunday, February 3rd, 2 pm

 

Get a jumpstart on this sweet holiday with cards and cupcakes and a special story time with author Leslie Kimmelman. An atypical monster, Frankenstein, who has just one head, two eyes, no tail and, worst of all, a kind personality, quickly discovers that his friendly behavior is out of place at a monster Valentine's Day bash, where a secret admirer reveals that likes Frankenstein's differences.
